The Buddy Walk® is DSANV’s primary annual fundraiser. The success of the 2020 event will determine our reach in supporting families living with Down syndrome across Northern Virginia throughout 2021.
In this unprecedented time of social distancing and keeping safe to slow the spread of COVID-19 we are unable to safely join in person to celebrate our families; but our mission is unchanged, "to ensure that all individuals with Down syndrome and their families receive the support necessary to participate in, contribute to and achieve fulfillment of life in their communities". It is still our vision to see "A day in which every person with Down syndrome is a valued and contributing member of their community."
To that end we immediately changed all of our in-person programming to an online format wherever possible. We are learning new technologies to deliver our popular programs like BINGO and the Cooking Club and are working through details to deliver another offering of our social relationships course, RelationShapes.
Our New Parent Breakfast moved to an online format as well. Our annual member meeting moved to a conference call.
A new online webinar series and collaboration was launched between GMU Behavior Therapist Dr. Chris Barthold and our members. Dr. Barthold is interested to continue her partnership with us and offers a wealth of support across a wide range of topics.
The Learning Program will move to an all online format and enable us to reach more families who may have found traveling to the class prohibitive.
The only way we can continue these programs is through the funds raised from Buddy Walk®. With your support we can keep these programs and introduce new ones as funding allows.

Yes, you are suppose to get a confirmation email for any action you complete such as registering, donating, etc. If you do not receive a confirmation for an action you believe you should get, then contact us to check confirmation on our end and we'll send a confirmation.
